Fitted furniture
Most fitted furniture jobs start with a bedroom that has a chimney breast, a sloping ceiling, or a corner that no freestanding wardrobe will ever sit against properly.
We measure the room, draw up what will fit, and build to those measurements. Carcasses are made from furniture board or MDF depending on the finish, doors and frames scribed to the wall, and everything levelled across floors that are rarely flat.
Painted, sprayed or veneered. If we are decorating the room as well, the finish matches the woodwork exactly.
Kitchens
A kitchen is a bigger commitment than the rest of this page, and it needs a longer conversation. We will either supply and fit the whole thing, or fit units you have bought yourself.
Worktops, end panels, plinths, cornice and trims are cut and scribed on site. We coordinate with your electrician and plumber, or bring in ours, so the order of work does not leave you without a sink for a fortnight.
Expect two to three weeks from first measure to finished kitchen for a typical family home, and a written schedule before anyone starts.

We visit, measure the space properly, and talk through how you actually use the room.
2. Design and quote
Drawings of what will fit, material and finish options, and a fixed written price. No deposit until you are happy.
3. Build
Carcasses and frames made to your measurements, in the workshop where the dust belongs.
4. Fit and finish
Installed, scribed, levelled and finished on site. Offcuts and packaging taken away with us.

What affects the price
Joinery prices vary more than decorating, because the materials and the finish make a real difference. The main factors:
- Size of the run, and whether it goes to the ceiling
- Material, from furniture board through MDF to solid timber and veneer
- Door style, and whether they are painted, sprayed or supplied finished
- Interior fittings, drawers, soft-close hinges and lighting
- How square and level the room is, since scribing to a bad wall takes time

Common questions
How long does a fitted wardrobe take?
Usually two to three days on site once it is built, and around two to three weeks from first measure to fitting.
Can you work around a sloping ceiling or chimney breast?
Yes. That is most of what we do, and it is the main reason people call a joiner rather than buying flat-pack.
Do you supply kitchens or only fit them?
Either. We can supply and fit, or fit units you have bought yourself. Say which when you enquire so the quote is right.
What is the difference between MDF and furniture board?
MDF paints and sprays to a smoother finish and suits painted doors. Furniture board comes pre-finished and works out cheaper. We will recommend based on the look you want.
Do you make a lot of mess?
There is dust, but the cutting happens in the workshop where possible. Floors are covered, we clean up daily, and offcuts leave with us.
